If you haven’t had the chance to watch the documentary Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead (Hulu, Netflix), then you’re really missing out.  “100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease” this movie centers on Joe Cross and his decision to get well on his own through juicing. Think of it as the polar opposite of what the movie “Super Size Me” was trying to accomplish, i.e. the results of eating well rather than not. Both great films in my opinion because if you don’t feel the urge to change your eating habits, you must not have a pulse.

It would probably be overly dramatic to say that fat, sick, and nearly dead describes how I feel at the moment. A better description might be “Husky, Feeling Just Ok, & Still Makin’ It”. With everything that has been going on over the past year (graduating, moving, moving again, and starting a new practice) I’ve really neglected to take care of one of the most important things in my life, my own health. And as a doctor of health, I’m coming up short. For that, I’ve put together a plan to eat better, get in better shape, and finally get back to being the “most cheerful” (I was nominated that for our high school superlatives. Not kidding).

To that end, I would like to do a 21 day detox and weight loss regimen and I’d like to enlist as many people as I can to join me.

So what’s involved you ask?

Thanks to my friends at Standard Process, they’ve put together a terrific purification program that provides everything you need and spells out every little detail. It’s fool proof as long as you can muster the will! To summarize the plan, it’s 21 days. They provide all of the organic whole food supplements and also arm you with meal plan ideas. The first 10-11 days you’ll be eating primarily fruits and vegetables and thereafter you’ll begin to incorporate proteins such as fish or chicken. Again, all the fine print and details are provided to you, so it’s a no-brainer.

It’s very simple and straightforward and I promise, you’re going to feel AMAZING when it’s over!

The Purification Kit  costs $230 and includes:

SP Cleanse: for purification
SP Complete (whey protein) or SP Complete Dairy Free (rice protein): for nutritious supplement shakes
Gastro-Fiber (capsules) or Whole Food Fiber (powder): for fiber support
SP Green Food: for phytonutrients

You still in? Good.

So the logistics:

July 1st I will have a kick-off meeting in my office at 7PM. I’ll be going over everything you need to know about the program and do a little Q&A session. Also, I’ll be collecting money to order your supplements from Standard Process. Once they arrive, I will notify you by telephone to pick them up. If you can’t make it, no worries. We’ll schedule a time to meet. Don’t live in Greenville, but would still like to join? Contact me and we’ll work out the nitty-gritty details.

July 8th This will be our official starting day (Wooh Ho!) For the next 2-3 days, your body will be begging you to stop or worse, cheat. Don’t do it because the prize is right around the corner. After the first week, you’ll begin to relish in the changes. You’ll be more alert, less hungry throughout the day, and overall have a better sense of well being.

July 15 and 22 We will hold weekly meetings in my office at 7PM if you need it. I’ll provide any support and answer any questions. Although not mandatory, these meetings will be a great opportunity to share successes stories, make friends, and keep our team effort alive.

July 29 You did it, let’s celebrate! Again, 7PM in my office, we’ll come together one last time to give out free High Fives for a job well done.

Living Proof

If you’re unsure whether or not this is for you and it “works”, I’d like to show you living proof. This is my very own mother who has graciously agreed to be featured on my page. Before starting the program, she had chronic indigestion and a few other conditions. After completing the program, not only have those issues gone away, but as an added bonus lost 20lbs! (Awesome new hair color not typical nor guaranteed)  She’s an inspiration and hopefully she’ll be yours too.

Before    After

Easy Enough?

If I’ve learned anything, it’s that doing something with other people is so much easier than doing it alone. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit, so this should be the beginning of a lifetime of eating better and living better. If you’re ready to commit yourself, contact me as soon as possible and I’ll put you on the list to receive updates.

I hope you’re as excited as I am!
